Out with the Old, In with the Booths!

We are always looking to improve the dining experience for our lovey and loyal guests at everyone’s favorite restaurant, Jackie Rey’s Ohana Grill in Kailua Kona. Most recently this has included entirely new furniture!

Sleek new booths now line the open air windows. Classy looking tables and chairs are also spread throughout the dining room, and shiny new bar stools greet our guests at the bar, all helping to give the floor plan a new, more modern look.

But don’t worry, the old tables and chairs were not put to waste. Owners Paul and Angela Rey donated all of the old furniture to our local Habitat for Humanity! Plus, if you know anyone who has any sentimental value for their favorite old bar stool or high top table, you can simply send them to down to Habitat and they can help donate to a wonderful cause!

The response to the change has been nothing but positive, but we want you to come and try it out for yourselves! So, the next time you are on the Big Island of Hawaii, come and sit yourselves down on our new digs. The ambiance will put you in a good mood for some great food!

Three established comedians entertained a full house of Kailua Kona locals, on this whirl wind, record-breaking tour of the United States with 50 shows to do in 50 states in 50 days! This trio of comics picked Hawaii as their last stop and we were lucky enough to have them join us at the colorful Jackie Rey’s Ohana Grill for their final venue. And WOW are we glad we did!

Eyebrows were raised to the roof as nothing seemed off limits for these clever comics. Bellows of laughter rolled through the restaurant all night long. Thanksgiving Brunch Buffet with the Salvation Army!

It was another fullfilling Thanksgiving Day at Jackie Rey’s Ohana Grill in Kailua Kona, Hawaii! With the help of the Kailua Kona Salvation Army we were able to serve close to 1000 meals on Thanksgiving morning to hungry locals from around the community!

The delectable food for this event was donated entirely by friends, family and patrons of Jackie Rey’s Ohana Grill. The neverending generosity of these people made it possible to feed so many on such a special day.

In addition to food donations, we also had hundreds of locals volunteering their hard work on Thanksgiving morning. The amazing efforts from these dedicated helpers was wonderful to experience. Delicious aromas and warm feelings filled the room the entire day, along with the angelic voices of the Salvation Army Boys Choir.

The Salvation Army was also responsible for delivering hundreds of boxed Thanksgiving meals, with all the fixin’s, to hospices, elderly home care facilities and to private homes, making sure that people had a hot meal even if they couldn’t join us personally.

It truly is magical when you have a community that takes care of one another!

Mahalos to everyone who participated in this annual event. We feel priveledged to host such an amazing service with such amazing people.

See you next year!
